When planning a beach getaway, you might not think of the east coast at first but think again. The east coast is more than just historical sites and big cities. There are so many great beach towns on the east coast to explore.

Don’t let its small size fool you, there is plenty to do on the island. Swim, surf, sail or sunbathe on the beach or visit one or all 3 lighthouses. Enjoy the picturesque scenery along one of the bike trails. Your inner foodie will enjoy the great selection of restaurants on the island, although, during the offseason, not all of them will be open. “We are going to the Hampton’s”  just sounds luxurious but there is so more than just mansions and polo matches in this beach town. You can find many comforts of a big city like designer shops, art galleries and great restaurant options. If you enjoy fresh local produce and amazing baked goods head to Round Swamp Farm, it’s just one of the many local farmers’s markets. Of course there are beautiful beaches but be sure to bring your hotel issued beach permit to enjoy your exclusive vacation. 

Visit “The Nation’s Summer Capital” as Rehoboth Beach calls itself, this beach town offers enjoyable experiences for the whole family. When you’re not lounging along the 30 miles of pristine coastline, walk along the lively boardwalk. Whether you’re a foodie, music lover, or thrill seeker the boardwalk will keep you entertained. Keep in mind that Delaware does not charge sales tax, so shop till you drop at one of the many shops or outlet malls.

Hilton Head Island was voted the best island in the U.S. by several publications but go see for yourself. The Island’s beautiful scenery is perfect for taking amazing vacation pictures anywhere on the island. No matter what your vacation style is, Hilton Head has something for everyone. To start there is over 12 miles of beaches with plenty of beach activities to choose from. If you enjoy golfing, Hilton Head is a mecca with 24 championship courses. Seafood lovers must attend their annual Seafood festival that celebrates southern cuisine. 

Unlike the rest of the towns on this list, winter is the busiest season in Key West. Swim, sunbathe, snorkel, kayak, parasail, or scuba dive in the crystal clear waters. Key West is well known for its beautiful sunsets, consider taking a sunset cruise for a front-row seat. Make sure to visit the heart of the Conch Republic Mallory Square and try some of the great seafood food. You’ll get a taste of the Caribbean without needing a passport.
