Ovolo Group started their operations for the famous Ovolo Hotels in 2002. The chain began as a serviced-apartment company. Owner Girish Jhunjhnuwala bought a single office complex in the center of Hong Kong’s Central Business District and turned it into an upscale serviced apartment. After that first opening of the group, they continued to expand their operations outside of Hong Kong. They now have hotels in Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, making the total of their locations 10. The aggressive extension of the group’s operation in Australia was a reaction to Hong Kong’ high property process and the depreciating value of Australian dollar back then in 2016.
Ovolo is a forward-thinking group as well. In 2015, before their remarkable expansion into the Australian market, the group opened a live-in co-working space for called Mojo Nomad program. They have always thought of the changing landscapes in the industries around them, even those beyond the tourism and hotel sectors. That’s why they keep on getting innovative ideas to further improve their establishments scattered across two countries. Until now, Ovolo keeps eyeing further expansions given their success. The company remains family-owned but their revenue seems to be like that of a subsidiary hotel chain.
