About Gran Melia By Melia Hotels International Cueva del Viento
Gran Meliá is one of the seven brands managed by the Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International. The chain based in Palma de Mallorca in 1956 was a brainchild of Gabriel EscarrerJuliá. Other brands under the group are Meliá Hotels & Resorts, Innside, ME by Meliá, Sol Hotels, Club Meliá, and Paradisus Resorts.
Gran Meliá invokes the very soul of Spanish culture: connection with the natural world, simple pleasures, veneration for things excellently accomplished and a subtle sophistication apparent in all corners. These features are evident from the locally flavored cuisine to the spectacular architecture of the properties, to the honest and dutiful service rendered by all staff. All the properties under the brand are set in structures of architectural significance, from grandiose neo-classical palaces to modernist building. They all exude a perfect mix of modernism, luxury, and history in and out.
Gran Meliá, which targeted leisure and business travelers, has 11 hotels under its portfolio mainly located across Spain. It also has a presence in Rome, Venezuela, China, and Indonesia. Just recently, Seville-based Hotel Colón, a property under the brand was named a new member of Virtuoso, a network of international travel agencies with a particular focus on luxury experiences in major tourist destinations worldwide.
