It was established back in 1987, as a rival of the well recognized Travelodge and was named as Travel inn by Whitbread. Whitbread then acquired Premier Lodge in the year 2004 and has decided to merge it with its rival Travel Inn wherein the current business name, Premiere Travel Inn was formed and then later changed to Premier Inn.

Premier Inn International can be found from Iverness in Scotland’s north to Helston, Cornwall, south-west England. Most Premier Inn International hotels were built recently while most are in the inner city locations in the UK housed within renovated office buildings. Premier Inn can also be found in Ireland and United Arab Emirates where it had entered into a joint venture agreement with Emirates Group. Premier Inn also has hotels in Qatar, India and Germany.
