Completed in 1971, the Artscape Theatre Centre is one of the major landmarks of Cape Town, South Africa. It is considered the main center for performing arts in the city and is home to an opera house that can seat close to 1, 500 people, an arena theater and a small theater. The said landmark was formerly known as the Nico Malan Theater Center, after the name of the one who initiated its construction, Dr. Johannes Nicholas Malan, who was also the former administrator of the National Party of the Cape Province during that time.
