Bykovo Airport - BKA
Bykovo Airport, which served Moscow, Russia, was a small public airport offering regional flights within the area. It can be found above five kilometers from the city of Zhukovsky, along the Ryazan highway. The local airport was assigned the IATA airport code of BKA and the ICAO code of UUBB. It opened in 1993 but ceased operations in 2010 because the lease terms with the company managing the airport expired. The following year, the airport terminal was demolished. Today, the airfield is used by the Bykovo Aircraft Repair Facility, which uses the runway for delivering cargo.
Best Time to Visit
The regional airport featured only one runway, stretching to only a little over 2,200 meters. Because of this relatively short runway, the airport primarily served short-haul domestic flights. When it first opened, it used a grass-surfaced. Then during World War II, the airstrip was renovated into a brick-covered path before it was rebuilt in 1960. Bykovo Airport’s terminal date back to 1975, and in that same year, it hosted 1.5 million passengers. There are various places to visit around Bykovo Airport, some of which include Nagatino, Lyubertsy, and Borets.
