Blenheim, New Zealand is one of the quaint towns in the region of Marlborough. Blenheim is known to be the center of the industry of wine in New Zealand. The famous Sauvignon Blanc wines from the area and is recognized worldwide. The region is also the setting of the Battle of Blenheim back in 1704. The region is also the setting of the first ever clash of the Maori and the British settlers after the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. Blenheim was originally a frequently flooded area. It was originally known as "The Beaver" or "Beaverton".
