Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit this stunning mountain range is during the months of July to September for its perfect weather, so expect Camaleno accommodations to be crowded during this season. As much as possible, try to avoid this region during November because it is the month, which receives the most amount of rainfall.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When you are touring the town, do not forget to head to the impressive Santo Toribio de Liébana Monastery. This 6th-century structure is one of the five centers in Christianity that still issues perpetual indulges. Visitors can also ride the Fuente De Cable Car to get the best view of this town. This 753-meter aerial lift can transport 20 people at a time in a span of 3 minutes and 40 seconds. It is the longest aerial lift ropeway in the whole Europe, thus adding to the excitement of riding this facility. For close access to the cable car, guests can book a night at the Parador de Fuente De, which is adorned with a picturesque view of the Liebana Valley. Another scenic location is the refurbished 17th century La Casa De Las Arcas, which lies on the foot of the Picos de Europa.
