Situated in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, the Center in the Square is an art organization that is home to the area’s art, science, and history museums, as well as dance, opera, and live professional theater. It was produced from a passion for supporting an impoverished post-World War II downtown area and has opened to the public in 1983 with over 40,000 visitors in its first week. Today, Center in the Square welcomes over 400,000 visitors on which 200,00 are school children. The building houses an array of museums in one roof, typical large aquariums, and a horde of events year-round, making it a haven for sciences, arts, and culture.
