Champery: Ready Your Sleds and Skis
The Alpine town found in the district of Monthey is known as Champery, Switzerland. It is one of the first settlement areas along the most famous and most visited ski area in the country, Portes du Soleil. The town is also situated just right at the border of France. Only a small population of 2000 or less consists of the town and about 20% of them are foreign nationals.
Best Time to Visit
Champery, despite being advertised more as a winter holiday destination, is also a great place to visit even without the deep snow. Though you have to watch out for the rain especially during the middle of the year. But of course, if you fully want to enjoy what the town has to offer, then the best time would be between December and February when the snow is the freshest and deepest. As a popular ski town, expect many tourists during these months with Champery hotels also pricey.
What to Do & Area Attractions
The gorgeous cabin-style accommodation of Art Boutique Hotel Beau Sejour is one of the best in Champery. A ski lift is just a short walking distance away. On the other hand, enjoy the breakfast included along with the spacious rooms of Hotel le Palladium. There is also the Hotel des Alpes, located at the foothills and is close to plenty of stores and restaurants. It is not surprising that ski lifts and ski resorts are the main points of interest in Champery. Two of the closest ski lifts are Planachaux Ski Lift and Grand paradis 1 Ski Lift. The town also has its very onw ski resort called Champery Ski Resort which is accessible via the Champery-Croix de Culet Cable Car.
