Colorado City: Rattlesnake Roundups, Outdoor Fun and Great Dining
Home to Don Maynar, Pro Football Hall of Famer and former U.S. Representative George Mahon, Colorado City, TX is considered to be one of the oldest established towns in Texas. The city was named after its convenient location near the Colorado River and also served as the county seat of Scurry County since 1881. Salt mining was also a popular trade in the region during the late 1800s and the town only began to see a boom in its population by the 1900s.
