Royal Orchid Hotels was established in 1973 by Chender K. Baljee in Bangalore, India. It operated 15 hotels in 2008 and have grown into 28 by 2018, which includes 10 company owned hotels and 18 managed through joint-venture contracts. Royal Orchid then opened Hotel Royal Orchid Azure in Nairobi, Kenya in 2015, its first hotel outside India. Royal Orchid Hotels also becomes the full owner of Amartara Hospitality in January 2017. As of June 2019, Royal Orchid Hotels is managing 51 hotels with 41 of these hotels under Management Contract.
