Dagupan – Home of the World’s Best Milkfish
Dagupan, Philippines is an independent component city of Pangasinan and the only one out of the four cities. The city is crisscrossed by seven rivers and 14 creeks, making it a haven for leisure and sports travelers. The city is best known for its milkfish or pond-raised bangus. It is said to be the tastiest and juiciest in the world. This is the reason that the city is nicknamed the “World’s Bangus Capital”. Until today, the city is the province’s educational, health, and commercial center. Malls, hospitals, universities, and many business establishments continue to be built here. The nearest airport that can take travelers to Dagupan city is Lingayen Airport, which is 30 minutes away.

From November to April, the weather in Dagupan City is most pleasant. This is the ideal time to plan a visit to the Bangus Capital of the World. January can get crowded, as it is the city’s busiest month for tourists. It is also interesting to visit the city during its celebration of the Bangus Festival. It was this festival that earned the city a Guinness World Record for the longest grill back in 2003.
