East Tamaki: New Zealand’s Booming Industrial Hub
East Tamaki, formerly a dairy farming area, is New Zealand’s largest industrial city to date. Surrounded by a variety of landmarks such as the Smales Mountain. Tourists can easily visit the city via the Auckland International Airport (AKL) airport. Though there few to no 5-star hotels within East Tamaki, it’s close proximity to Auckland offers visitors options to select East Tamaki accommodations, like Golflands Motel and Grange Motel, within distance to the city.

The Southern Hemisphere summer season, from November to March the following year, is the peak season for any tourist destination – East Tamaki, New Zealand included. Given these are the peak months, it is highly recommended to reserve East Tamaki hotels ahead of time. For those who wish to visit during less crowded times or during more pleasant weather, it is best to visit during the end of fall, around late May, or during spring which is around September.
What to Do & Area Attractions
A well-known East Tamaki landmark is the Fo Guang Shan Temple. It opened in 2007 and is considered as the largest Buddhist temple in the country. Visitors have remarked that the best time to visit the temple is during the spring season due to the cherry blossom being in full bloom, giving away breathtaking and spectacular views.
The Auckland War Memorial Museum is considered to be one of New Zealand’s most important war memorials and museums with collections about the country’s natural history to its military history. Maungakiekie or One Tree Hill Domain is country’s volcanic peak that goes up to 597 ft. and is important for the local Maori tribes and the people of New Zealand.
