About Tryp Hotels by Wyndahm Embu-Guacu
Now known as Tryp Hotels by Wyndham, Tryp is an independent hotel brand that has been in the hearts of every city it is in. Tryp Hotels was founded by Melia Hotels Internationals, S.A. It is a Spanish hotel chain established by Gabriel Escarrer Julia in 1956 in Spain’s hospitality and tourism spot, Palma de Mallorca. The chain currently has 374 hotels in 40 countries on 4 continents. Tryp’s brand rights, however, was sold to Wyndham Worldwide in 2010. Still, Melia manages the hotels with a licensing agreement up to this day. This collaboration is a fusion of two renowned hospitality services into one brand that is already a powerhouse in itself. Wyndham has massive revenue of $5.07 billion as of 2017 while Melia was already at $1.4 billion in 2010.
Melia was started by 21-year-old Gabriel Escarrer Julia whose prominence in the industry was achieved rapidly within the decade. His age wasn’t a hindrance to one of the most remarkable growths in the Spanish hospitality industry. He sought partnerships that increased his group’s credibility under different brands until his deal with Wyndham. Wyndham Destinations is a specialized group in vacation ownership and rentals. With their expertise in holiday homes and Melia’s skills in unmatched hospitality services, Tryp Hotels continues to be a solid brand in the industry.
