Ephrata, The City of History and Recreation
Serving as the county seat of Grant County, Ephrata, Washington was incorporated in 1909 and is now the home of more than 7,000 residents. The city was believed to trace its name to the biblical term for an orchard in the heart of the desert. If you are visiting the city, you can arrive by plane at Grant County International Aiport, which is about 20 minutes from the city. There are numerous hotels found near the airport and around the city limits as well.
Best Time to Visit
Late April to mid-June and late August to late October are the best dates to plan a visit to Ephrata, WA, although the area can be pretty crowded in June during the Sage - N - Sun Family Festival. The event, which is now held at its 109th celebration, features various craft vendors, kids’ activities, and live entertainment. Tourists generally flock to the area during this season. However, you can expect plenty of available rooms at most of the Ephrata, WA hotels come September when the tourist population decreases.
What to Do & Area Attractions
While in Ephrata, make sure you visit the Grant County Historical Museum and Village which exhibits restored historic structures. The Cave B Estate Winery is also an iconic tourist spot found half an hour away from the town. If you’re more into golf, spend the rest of your afternoon at Colockum Ridge Golf Course.
