Hercílio Luz International Airport (FLN) is named after Hercílio Pedro da Luz, a three-time governor and senator of the state of Santa Catarina. The airport features two runways, 1,500 meters and 2,400 meters long. Its runway, apron, control tower, and passenger terminal were built between 1942 and 1945 and in 1978, a second runway was opened. In 1995, the airport received its international status. A second terminal opened in September 2019. Today, it services flights by airlines such as Azul Brazilian Airlines, LATAM Brasil, Gol Transportes Aéreos, Paranair, and more. The airport serves as a gateway to nearby cities and destinations such as Aguas Mornas, Barra da Lagao, Palhoca, Santo Amaro da Imperatriz and Avenida Atlantica.
