Gili Meno: Exploring the Quietest Island of the Gili Archipelago
The island of Gili Meno, Indonesia is one of the three small islands comprising the Gili Islands, the two other being Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. The archipelago is located off the northwest coast of the island of Lombok. Gili Meno lies between the two other small islands and houses around 500 residents, most of whom live in the island center. The island primarily lives off of coconut plantations, fishing, and tourism. In fact, because the island is surrounded by swimming beaches and features a turtle sanctuary, it has attracted several hotels and lodging to build a business in the area.
Best Time to Visit
Gili Meno is marked with hot weather all year round, but there are also about six months of rainy days, as well. This makes the island a perfect destination months between late May and mid-October when the weather is ideal for beach activities. While the beach areas are typically packed throughout the year, you can experience a dramatic increase in tourist population in March. However, most of Gili Meno, Indonesia hotels are discounted in September during the slow tourism season.
