Haputale: Exploring the Vibrant Biodiversity of Southern Sri Lanka
The town of Haputale is nestled in the south portion of the Hill Country, in the district of Badulla. It rests atop an elevation of 4695 feet, where the thriving biodiversity of the country is prominent. Because of the area’s hilly terrain, the town is mostly blanketed with tea plantations and cloud forests. There are also a handful of hotels and resorts in the area, as well.
Best Time to Visit
Haputale is located in a region where the temperature is comfortable all year round with rain showers and snow for most of the year, as well. This makes the city an amenable holiday destination between mid-June to early September when the rain showers are less frequent as opposed to the rest of the year. These months also fall on the busiest months for the year, so expect crowded streets and Haputale, Sri Lanka hotels. If you are not such a fan of crowds, you can always visit the city in the winter months of December to February, during which the tourist population dramatically declines.
