Lanseria International Airport – HLA Johannesburg
Lanseria International Airport is a private international airport located northwest of Johannesburg in South Africa and north of Randburg and Sandton. In 1972, the airport began as a grass strip airfield and is the brainchild of Fanie Haacke and Abe Sher who are Pretoria pilots. In 1974, the Minister of Transport, Hannes Rall, officially inaugurated the airport. It is also famous as the airport where Nelson Mandela landed in Johannesburg after his release.

Lanseria International Airport has a single asphalt runway measuring 148 feet wide. The private airport can accommodate aircrafts up to the size of the Boeing 757-300. It also serves as a hub for FlySafair, Kulula.com and Mango serving flights to Capetown, George, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Zanzibar. The head office of building of National Airways is inside the airport premises. There are also several maintenance and avionics companies inside. The airport is near the cities of Akasia, Pretoria and Magaliesberg.
