Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, and covering an area of around 1,475 acres, the Terre Haute International Hulman Field Airport currently has two runways, one made of asphalt and another of concrete. The facility is more of an educational arm as the Hulman Field is being used by the Ivy Tech and Indiana State University for their aviation program. It’s also on standby for the F-16 as needed. As per the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems, the facility is of general aviation use, which means that it has less than 2,500 deplanements per year.
Best Time to Visit
The airport started in 1943 and gradually expanded over the years. In 1954, it actually became a station for the 181st Intelligence Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard. Renovations have been made over the years, including a 1.1 million project upgrade in 2017 for the terminal building exterior. As per the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, a budget of $24 million was made for a construction project in support of the 181st Intelligence Wing. Upon landing in this airport, you can quickly access nearby cities like Bedford and Bloomington with their many artistic features.

In terms of nearby hotels however, you’re in luck as several accommodations are close to the area. There’s the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Terre Haute with its modest pricing and a location of just 2.4 miles from the airport. Slightly further but just as convenient is the Candlewood Suites Terre Haute, which is 5.2 miles from the facility.
Unfortunately, no other airports are situated close to HUF.
