Sultan Azlan Shah Airport – IPH Ipoh
Situated 3.7 miles away from Ipoh, Sultan Azlan Shah Airport is ranked as the seventh busiest airport in Malaysia. It is the principal airport in Ipoh, Malaysia. The airport code or IATA is IPH, which is taken from the name of its city. In 2017, the government of Malaysia announced its plan to upgrade the terminal to accommodate its growing number of passengers. Currently, the airport is being served with three major airlines that serve both domestic and international flight destinations.
Best Time to Visit
Sultan Azlan Shah Airport used to a small airfield for Fokker aircraft. To accommodate bigger size aircraft, the airport was expanded. In fact, in 1989, the airport was renovated in preparation for the arrival of Queen Elizabeth 11 during Her Majesty's visit to Kuala Kangsar. Today, the airport offers newly reconstructed modern terminal buildings that feature comfortable departure lounges, quaint cafes, and souvenir shops. Passengers that are traveling the area can arrange for local transportation that is made available outside the terminal. Travelers have the option to take out car rentals or taxis that can take them to Gopeng or to Tambun, a popular tourist destination in Malaysia.

Currently, Sultan Azlan Shah Airport does not offer onsite hotels to its passengers. However, there are a number of nearby hotels in the area that travelers can check-in during their stay in the Ipoh. Travelers can book their accommodation at the Symphony Suites or at the M Boutique Hotel. These hotels are less than 20 minutes away from the airport and are within the sightseeing activities of the city.
Passengers can also book their tickets at Padang Terbang Sitiawan Airport, another domestic airport that serves Malaysia.
