Jumbo Shopping Center, Helsinki, Finland
True to its name, Jumbo Shopping Centre is the largest shopping center in Vantaa, in Helsinki, Finland. It is also the third-largest in the whole country. Commonly called Jumbo, it was opened in October 1999. It is accessibly located near a bus terminal. In its first year along, 6 million customers visited the mall, and this number continues to rise every year. In 2005, Jumbo underwent an expansion, and after three more years, an entertainment center was built next to it; thus, the complex is now known as a sprawling entertainment shopping center.
Jumbo is not just popular among residents of nearby communities but to people from as far as Espoo, Haaga, and Sundsberg. Visitors coming to visit can stay at Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo which is right around the corner from Jumbo and near the E-18 highway or at Airport Hotel Bonus Inn, a modest airport hotel that’s an 11-minute walk from the shopping center. One more option would be the Scandic Helsinki Aviacongress, a quiet conference hotel adjacent to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the Finnish Aviation Museum, another interesting attraction in the area which showcases exhibits focusing on aircraft. Also popular among visitors is the Helsinki Sky Wheel, which is located in the center of Helsinki and features the world’s first sauna on a Ferris wheel and Hietaniemi Beach found in the Töölö district in central Helsinki and serves as an ideal beach getaway right in the middle of the city.
