The largest hotel chain in India in the mid-priced hotel sector, Lemon Tree Hotels are known for their bright, youthful interiors and signature lemon fragrance. It was founded by Patu Keswani in 2002, and is headquartered in New Delhi. A recipient of the FT ArcelorMittal Boldness in Business Award for Corporate Responsibility/Environment in 2018, Lemon Tree Hotels has eco-friendly processes in place that aim to promote responsible waste management in all of its branches.
The hotel chain operates under 3 distinct brands: Lemon Tree Premier for the upper midscale market, Lemon Tree Hotels for midscale, and Red Fox by Lemon Tree Hotels targeting the economy sector. Its first hotel opened in May 2004 with just 49 rooms. Today, the company has a total of 56 hotels with over 5,500 rooms in 33 cities all across India. Plans are in place to expand the hotel portfolio to 8,200 rooms by the year 2021, with developments already underway in cities like Pune, Kolkata, and Udaipur - including the first Lemon Tree Hotel in Dubai to be launched by 2019.
Lemon Tree believes in providing opportunities to the differently-abled, and has been recognized for their efforts in doing so. Currently, 20% of the company’s employees are from the marginalized sector that includes those with physical and intellectual disabilities.
