About LUX Island Resorts Labourdonnais
LUX Islands Resorts is a sub-brand of the company LUX Resorts & Hotels, which is based in Mauritius. It was founded in 1985 by a group of Mauritian investors, as Naiade Resorts. In 2011, it was rebranded as LUX Resorts & Hotels and a new CEO was appointed, and it was Paul Jones who already had a name for himself from the One&Only brand. Now, the company has changed its style under his reign. It is now less rigid on the luxury design. It has introduced “real” coffee resto-styled ice cream parlors, on-the-beach film screenings, pop-up restaurants, red vintage telephone boxes that actually work, and a fresh wellness & spa programs.
There are over 1 million tourists in Mauritius every year, mainly from Europe, which is a big travel market. This prompted LUX Island Resorts to increase their targets in the said continent, also increasing reaches in the other continents but in a prioritized way. Most LUX properties are beachfront hotels, too. That is why the LUX Island Resorts has become its own brand just to set it apart from other hotels the company manages that are placed in between towns or in cities that are nowhere by the beach.
