Lake City: The Hiker’s Den in Colorado
Founded in the year 1874, the town of Lake City is named after the Lake San Cristobal since this is a nearby body of water where this land sits. It is located at Hinsdale County, nestled in the San Juan Mountains. When the road going to the mountains had been established, this town served as the center for supply distribution for miners back in the day, these attracted additional thousands of settlers from neighbouring cities and towns. This geared towards its growth and continued until the mining era was ended in 1905. It was during the 1930s when the people started to visit from outside of town during summer time to spend their vacations.
