Leesburg: A Peaceful Community Close to Delaware Bay
Known as an unincorporated community within the township of Maurice River, Leesburg, New Jersey was among the towns surveyed in 1691 by Jon Budd and John Worledge. The first settlers in the area are believed to be Swedish, but it wasn’t until 1795 when John Lee established the town. Hotels and inns are located around the city, available at the guests’ disposal.
Best Time to Visit
Although Leesburg, New Jersey, does host several community events, they are not as prominent as the Fire & Ice Festival held in Mount Holly, an hour away from the city. The event is held in the latter part of January when the weather can get too cold for outdoor activities. This is also marked as the slowest season for tourism, so this is the time of year to take advantage of the discounted room rates at most of the Leesburg, NJ hotels. Meanwhile, summer is typically packed in the majority of the cities in the state.
