Another interesting site to visit in the area is Pic Macaya National Park. It is one of the only two national parks in the country. It is home to the country’s last remaining virgin cloud forest. Established in 1984, it is home to several endangered animal and plant life, especially those endemic to Hispaniola. It has two tall peaks, Pic Formon and Pic Macaya. Tourists should also visit Gelee Beach, which boasts of white sand. It is one of the longest and most famous beaches in the country.
