Machida: Retro City with Rich History
From the west of the Tokyo Metropolitan, you will find the vibrant but less touristy Machida, Japan. The city is also nearby the famous Kanagawa Prefecture. Machida is one of the historically-rich cities in the country with a retro vibe to it. Travelers who wish to explore the city may take an hour ride train from Tokyo-Haneda International Airport (HND).
Best Time to Visit
Machida is best explored when you visit during the middle of the year. Months of April, May, September, and October are the most comfortable months when it comes to temperature and the weather is fair. Although do expect some occasional rain showers during these months. One of the biggest festival in the city – Oedo Beer Festival – takes place every summer, usually during the month of July. Machida Japan hotels are priced higher during these times because of the high influx of tourists.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Machida Squirrel Garden is one of the main pride and most prominent attraction in the city. Families with children will surely enjoy feeding the hundreds of Pallas squirrels residing in the zoo.
