Mander Shopping Centre, Wolverhampton, England, United Kingdom
The Mander Shopping Centre is a major covered shopping centre in the bustling heart of the center of Wolverhampton, England, UK. It is located strategically linking between Dudley Street and Victoria Street and is well-connected via nearby train, bus, and metros stations. The main shopping center opened in 1968 on a lot that used to be the old Georgian works and offices of the Mander family firm dating back to 1773. A fire in 1974 severely destroyed the central arcade, but through the years, redevelopments continue to be done.
Wolverhampton is a relatively young and lively city in the center of the West Midlands. Some of the fine hotels in the city are found within walking distance from the shopping center like the casual Britannia Hotel Wolverhampton that occupies a Victorian building. The Premier Lodge Central is set near the area’s many restaurants and bars, while the simple Redwings Lodge Wolverhampton is also in close proximity. Some of the nearby villages are Pattingham and Seisdon, being only less than 20 minutes away. The market town of Walsall is also close by. Likewise nearby is Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a Victorian landscaped park which is one of the area’s best attractions. Also worth visiting is the Coventry Transport Museum for its large collection of British-made road transport. An afternoon stroll for bird and wildlife watching at the Kingsbury Water Park is a great way to spend time in this country park with its 15 lakes situated in over 600 acres.
