Medina: Hunting of a Lifetime
Founded in 1899, the peaceful town of Medina, North Dakota has no more than 400 residents. Eleventh Siding was previously its name until they changed it following a New York town bearing the same name. The town is a well-known wildlife spotting area especially for budding bird watchers. Half an hour away from Medina is the Jamestown Regional Airport (JMS) which handled flights to Denver and Devil’s Lake, ND until 2017.
Best Time to Visit
Medina, North Dakota experiences the four distinct season. It is most recommended to visit the town during spring, summer, and fall seasons especially if you want to spot animals particularly migratory birds passing through. Summer is the season with most tourists in the area and with Medina ND hotels having higher rates. But if you come around fall, you can celebrate Medina’s Fall Festival with the local community.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Half an hour away, in Jamestown, ND, is the National Buffalo Museum. It is one of the interesting museums nearby Medina where you can actually see buffalos alive and healthy on the vast open green space outside the building. Close to it is the huge sculpture World’s Largest Buffalo. In another town, just about 40 minutes away, is Chase Lake – a national wildlife refuge where you can spot wild animals and even hunt! There are no immediate hotels within Medina. Rather, they are also located over at Jamestown.
