Mendocino: Exciting Water Activities and Close to Nature Adventures
Originally a settlement for logging, Mendocino, CA was originally named Meiggsville, in honor of Henry Meiggs, one of the original settlers in the region. The city is located north of the San Francisco Bay Area and just west of the Central Valley. Its current name is a tribute to Antonio de Mendoza, a Viceroy from New Spain, and also from a town in Spain - Cape Mendocino. Gaining the nickname “Lost Coast”, the region features huge redwood forest, wineries, microbreweries and a distinctive and beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean coastline.
