Best Time to Visit
MSE Airport has a single runway and measures 2,748 feet long. This makes the runway of MSE the 11th longest civilian runway in the whole United Kingdom. The runway was also originally built with three lanes during the war, making the runway at present the widest in the European continent. During the airport’s early years, it was used for military purposes. Civil services began in the 1960s and later on the airport became known as Kent International Airport in 1989. During 2003 to 2004, the airport went through several developments to meet certain local demands and up to 2011 daily flights were operating in the airport. During 2012 to 2014, the move to close the airport began. But, on July 2019, a recent announcement was made that MSE airport may restart operations by the year 2022. Once the airport is operational, neighboring cities like Capel-le-Ferne, Hawkinge, and Paddlesworth will be able to benefit from the airport once again, aside from Manston.
