Nadi International Airport – NAN Nadi
Positioned in the coast of the west side of the Viti Levu Island, Nadi International Airport is an international airport of the Fiji Republic. It is an important regional center for the South Pacific Islands and the primary hub of the Fiji Airways and Fiji Link, its domestic regional subordinate. It was built in 1939 by New Zealand and was financed by the British colonial rulers of Fiji, operated under the name USAAF Nadi by the US Army during the Pacific War in 1941. After obtaining independence in 1970, the government of Fiji took over the total control of the airport in 1979. Considering its several distance away from the population centre of Fiji, Nadi International Airport is the main airport in the country, and has served over 2 million domestic and international passengers in 2016.

The newly redesigned terminals of Nadi International Airport has a sleek contemporary design blended with traditional culture and was opened to traffic on 2018. Its modernized terminals include structural changes like the higher and grandeur ceilings and a sprinkler system upgrade. Its domestic terminal has new a new check-in building and additional counters. The departure lounge has now some world-class VIP spa facilities, duty-free retail stores, a prolonged airport lounge and a prayer room. There is also a children’s play area facility within the airport. Due to this renovation, the airport was recognized globally and was listed as sixth of the World’s Most Improved Airport. It has also been the first airport to receive Airport Carbon Accreditation because of its energy efficient systems. One of the places you must visit near the airport is the Takoroki Island.
