Numata: A Vibrant, Colorful City
Situated in central Japan is Numata, the largest city in terms of land area in the Gunma Prefecture in Honshu Island. It has become a favorite holiday destination since it is conveniently near many famous tourist attractions like the Lockheart Castle, the Fukiware-no-taki Waterfalls, the ski resorts of Mount Hotaka, to name a few. Also close to the city is the volcanic Mount Akagi, a popular travel spot.
Best Time to Visit
Although Numata can be enjoyed during all four seasons, still the best time to visit for good weather is between June and September. But Numata is swarmed by visitors in the months of January, March and April. This peak season means more expensive rates for Numata Japan hotels though. The city also welcomes thousands of tourists in August for the Numata Festival, a Japanese matsuri or a solemn festival celebrated at Shinto shrines. The festival is highlighted by parades of floats and portable shrines.
