Oaxaca, Exploring La Verde Antequera of Mexico
Oaxaca de Juarez, or much simply referred to as Oaxaca, is a city under the rule of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. It serves as the state capital and its biggest city as well. The town can be found in the Centro District near the Sierra Madre and the Atoyac River. The town was formerly called Nueva Antequera and gained the nickname “la Verde Antequera.” It is home to hundreds of hotels and inns since it accommodates hundreds and thousands of tourists every year. Oaxaca, Mexico is served by the Xoxocotlan International Airport located in the southern part of the city.

If you’re visiting Oaxaca in July, you will surely be in for a treat. During this month, the city is in a festive mood as they celebrate the month-long Guelaguetza or Los Lunes del Cerro. This yearly event is marked with indigenous cultural celebrations, such as waking bands, traditional costumed dancing, and arts fair. The weather in July is particularly lovely as it is still summer. Oaxaca, Mexico hotels are also at their cheapest since tourism is relatively slow. Visitors typically come flooding in the city in the winter.
