Ocala International Airport - OCF Florida
Ocala International Airport is located a few miles from the city of Ocala, Florida. It is a public airport with an IATA code of OCF and two asphalt runways. Regular airline services at the airport were ceased after USAir Express withdrew their services in 1987, despite a new runway being added to the facility at the time. Ocala International Airport is currently offering flight training, aircraft maintenance, and car rental services. By 2008, the airport was averaging 200 aircraft operations per day.
Best Time to Visit
The land occupied by Ocala International Airport is also known as Jim Taylor Field, after the man who donated the land to Ocala City in 1927. By 1941, the field became the site for Ocala’s first aviation school- Greenville Aviation. After the war, the facility was converted to a commercial airport in 1968. Approximately an hour’s drive away from Ocala is San Mateo, popular for its beaches. Also an hour away is another beachside city, Palate, in Florida. Nearly two hours away is White’s Ford, overlooking the Potomac River.
