Oki Airport – OKI
Oki Airport serves the town of Okinoshima, Shimane in Japan. It is located in Dogo in the Shimane Prefecture, just three kilometers outside the town center of Okinoshima. The public airport is owned and operated by the local government. It goes by the IATA code OKI and the ICAO code RJNO. Oki Airport sits at an elevation of 80 meters above mean sea level. There is one runway which measure exactly 1.2 miles long and has an asphalt surface. In 2015, the airport handled a total of 58,436 passengers and 1,650 aircraft movements. The airport is classified as a Class III facility and provides air service to the Osaka International Airport and Izumo Airport.
Best Time to Visit
The airport first opened in 1965 with a 1,200-meter runway. It operated regularly schedule flights to Yonago Airport and irregularly scheduled flights to Izumo Airport. In 1975, the airport closed while the runway was lengthened 1,500 meters. The airport was again closed in the early 2000s and it was reopened at a site adjacent to the former airport with a 2-kilometer runway. The airlines that serve the airport include Japan Airlines operated by J-Air and Japan Airlines operated by Japan Air Commuter. Japan Airlines is the country’s flag carrier.
