Oneonta: Home of the Famous Covered Bridges
Oneonta, Alabama is the county seat of Blount County. It was named after Oneonta in New York, the hometown of a railroad official. Its post office has been operational since 1889.

The perfect time to visit Oneonta is during the months of April through June, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of July, August, and October. Tourists are least likely to visit in December. One of the most anticipated events in the area is Covered Bridge Festival, which is held every October. It features 5K run, arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities, food, live music, quilt show, and vintage cars.
