Cork Airport- ORK
Cork Airport is an international airport located in Ballygarvan, County Cork in Ireland. It is the second largest of the three principal international airports in the Republic of Ireland. It serves the city of Cork and is just 4 miles from the city center. Other cities served by Cork Airport include Kinsale, Kinsale Town Centre, Sleaveen and more. In 2018, it served a total of 2,392,821 passengers and a total of 19,894 aircraft movements. It serves as the focus city for Aer Lingus. Cork Airport is owned by the Government of Ireland and is operated by the DAA Dublin Airport Authority.
Best Time to Visit
Construction on Cork Airport began in 1959. It was opened in 1961. An extension to the main apron was added ion 1980s. The airport celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. In 2013, the Airports Council International ranked the airport first in overall customer satisfaction. There are several shopping and eating facilities in the main terminal of the airport before and after the security screening areas. Overall upgrades and development are planned for the airport, will be completed in 2023. Some of the airlines that are served by the airport including Aer Lingus, which is the Republic or Ireland’s flag carrier.
