Port Elizabeth International Airport- PLZ
Port Elizabeth International Airport in Port Elizabeth, South Africa is located in the Eastern Cape province. The airport initially took the name H.F. Verwoerd Airport and is owned and operated by the Airports Company South Africa. This company currently owns and handles nine other airports located in key point cities in South Africa. PLZ Airport is just two miles south of the central business district and sits 68 meters above mean seal level. In 2017, it had a total passenger traffic of 1.62 million.
Best Time to Visit
There are currently two asphalt runways used in the airport. Thirteen aircraft parking bays are also featured on the site as well as a terminal building 8,700 square meters in size. Port Elizabeth International Airport had a terminal upgrade to be able to increase its current capacity. At present, it has a capacity of 2 million passengers annually after the new terminal was opened in 2004. Parking areas, car rental offices and local taxis are available inside the airport to be able to accommodate ground transport in and out of the office. For recreational destinations, head to Port Elizabeth in Algoa Bay where several Victorian landmarks and nature adventures can be enjoyed, or visit nearby cities and towns such as the Kini Bay and Summerstrand.
