Best Time to Visit
The construction of El Tepual International Airport was completed in April 1960s. The following month, the airport was used as a site of the great airlift when Chile was hit with a 9.5 magnitude earthquake. By 1963, the airport was formally inaugurated together with its original terminal. The growing number of foreign travelers, specifically from Argentina and Brazil led to the establishment of an additional terminal by 1995. Due to an increase in passenger traffic as well as aircraft traveling to and from the airport, another terminal was added in 2010. In fact, by 2012 El Tepual Airport has catered 1.1 million passengers, making it the second-busiest airport in Chile. Travelers that are planning to visit Los Ladrillos, Maullin, or Petrohue will find the car rental booth facility within the terminal.
