Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD) is a public/military joint-use airport in Palmdale, California. The city of Palmdale manages the operations through the Palmdale Airport Authority.It started its civilian operations in 1971. PMD Airport is listed as a primary commercial service facility. In 2008, a record of more than 10,000 passenger enplanements was recorded and this continues to grow. Dating back to the early 1930s, the airport’s first airstrip was built in the desert.

Palmdale Regional Airport is ensconced in an area of 5,832 acres. It has three concrete runways one of which was built to withstand an 8.3 Richter Scale earthquake, making it one of the world's strongest runways. The smaller runway is utilized as an assault strip. It operates from a small airline terminal at the southwest corner of the airport. There is a hangar, too. The airport does not have any scheduled commercial passenger airline service at present. Burbank, Pasadena and Santa Clarita are some localities in the LA County that are within the vicinity of PMD Airport.
