Originally dedicated, as Richard Evelyn Byrd Flying Field in 1927 in memory and honor of the famous aviator RIC-Richmond Intl. Airport is one of the mixed military and commercial airport in Richmond, VA, United States. Richmond International Airport is the busiest airport in the central region of the state of Virginia and the third busiest in the state. The airport covers a total area of 2,500 acres. Expansions and renovations were implemented from the 1950s up to the 1970s to add passengers’ concourses and facilities to offer better services in the airport.
