Roseau: Capital City of A Green Nature Island
Roseau is the capital and largest city of Dominica, an island nation in the Caribbean. It is also Dominica’s most important port. Known for its 18th-century Creole architecture, Roseau has a small urban settlement enclosed by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce. The city has a mish-mash of modern and colonial French architecture. The city is located near the Canefield Airport (DCF), being only 3 miles north.

High tourist season in Roseau is from October to April when many cruise ships dock at the port. The cruise day-trippers can get the city busy during this period. Head to Saint George Anglican Church, a landmark in Roseau and originally built in the 1820s. Set along the shores of the Caribbean Sea is Fort Young, the most popular place to stay in the city. The understated Roseau Valley Hotel is located in a forested area and has a casual restaurant & bar. St James Guesthouse is a few hundred yards northwest of downtown and offers modest lodgings. Other options include the Tamarind Tree Hotel and Restaurant and the nearby Calibishie Lodges.
