The Royal Manitoba Theater Centre is the oldest English-language regional theatre in Canada. It was founded in 1958. The current theatre building opened in October 1970 with a construction cost of $2.5 million. Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the theatre has a Royal Designation, which a granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010, thus changing its name to the Royal Manitoba Theater Centre. The theatre can seat 785 people. Since it was founded, the Royal Manitoba Theater Centre has produced more than 600 plays. There are two venues at the theatre. They are the Tom Hendry Warehouse and the John Hirsch Mainstage. Four Warehouse productions and Six Mainstage productions are done each season.
