Samut Sakhon: An Urban Historic City
Samut Sakhon is the capital of Samut Sakhon Province in Thailand. The city is most commonly preferred by the residents as Mahachai. It is smoothly thirty miles from the country's capital, Bangkok. The city was formerly known as Tha Chin, or Chinese Pier. This was because the city had been a trading post for Chinese ships. Later on, King Rama IV renamed it to what it is called today.

The Bodhisattva Kuan Statue is another large monument; it is of Chinese origin. The statue is known as the Goddess of Mercy and is closely located by the mouth of the city's river.
