Stamford Hotels and Resorts is a subsidiary of Singapore listed company Stamford Land Corp. or formerly Hai Sun Hup Group. Since its founding in 1995, the luxury hotel chain has grown to become one of the largest hotel operators in Australia and New Zealand. It has locations in major cities of Australia including Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Auckland in New Zealand.
Stamford Hotels has seven hotels positioned in the four- to five- star market segments in its portfolio representing almost 2,500 rooms. They are namely: Sir Stamford at Circular Quay and Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport Hotel in Sidney; Stamford Plaza Brisbane Hotel; Stamford Plaza Melbourne Hotel; Stamford Grand Adelaide Hotel and Stamford Plaza Adelaide Hotel; and Stamford Plaza Auckland Hotel. The hotel was named after Singapore founder Stamford Raffles. He was a British lieutenant who founded the Republic of Singapore in 1819. The company’s logo featuring a Knight’s Head represents the strength of spirit of this visionary man who believed that Singapore is destined for greatness.
Stamford Hotels and Resorts is currently headed by Singapore-born Ow ChioKiat, one of the most celebrated businessmen in the republic.
