Thus, two bomber fields were constructed, one at Palikulo Bay (Bomberfield No. 1) and the other one in Pekoa (Bomberfield No. 2). The latter then became the Santo-Pekoa International Airportafter all operations from Luganville Airfield was moved to it during the 1970s.
