Sorell: Your Choice of Vineyard or Beach Hopping
Sorell, Australia is a town just off the Tasman Highway making it easily accessible. It is one of the oldest towns in Tasmania. Its history dates as far back as the 18th century. From being a small farming community, it is now a leading tourist destination and a port town in the country. The town’s name was in honor of a Lieutenant-Governor, William Sorell. Hobart International Airport (HBA) is just about 15 minutes away from the heart of the town.
Best Time to Visit
Unlike the majority of Australia, a comfortable weather is enjoyed all year-round over at Sorell, Tasmania, Australia. The summer season, from December to February, has the most favorable weather. Thus, it is the ideal season to visit the town. However, there are plenty of travelers during these months so you may find Sorell hotels to be a bit overpriced. After a five year hiatus, the Port Sorell Fiesta has once again be celebrated starting January 2020 and would continue to do so yearly.
What to Do & Area Attractions
There are numerous vineyards just within a short drive from Sorell. These include Palmara Vineyard and Home Hill Winery. If you love wines and spirits, you really should not miss a wine-hopping tour. Take a ferry boat around the Pittwater Nature Reserve over at Hobart Cruise Terminal. If you fancy going for a swim, head on to the Seven Mile Beach or Long Beach. A garden and free wireless internet await you at the Sorell Barracks, a charming bed and breakfast accommodation. Nearby the HBA Airport are the Hobart Airport Tourist Park and Travelodge Hotel Hobart Airport. The latter has a huge playground in which your children may entertain themselves while waiting for a long flight.
